hi everyone!

I am really thinking about going to law school in seattle (fingers crossed i get into one of the two!) My fiancee is a defense contractor and can get a job with Boeing in everett. We want to live in the city. I am originally from Manhattan so I would really love to stay in a city.... I love the culture and constant buzzing..

Question:
If I end up working in the city, do you think it will be necessary to own a car? My fiancee will need a car since he will have to commute but will I? How are the busses and other modes of public transportation within the city?

Thanks!! I will be visiting Seattle again in January! I am so excited..

If you are living in the City (Belltown, downtown, capital hill, central district) and working in the City and going to the U or Seattle U, you can easily get around on the bus system.

I lived in the CD (off of Yesler and 23rd), worked downtown (2nd and Columbia) and went to grad school at night at the U, and had about a 15 minute each way triangle commute on King County Metro. It was great. The bus system in and around downtown and the U district are really good.

You definitely don't need a car if you live in the city and go to school at UW or Seattle U. One car will easily suffice. I am a law student at UW, and don't have a car, while my boyfriend does. This has worked out more than fine for us. The bus system is quite good, and you should have no problems in Central Seattle (Downtown, U District, Capital Hill, Queen Anne, Wallingford, Ballard, Central District)
