Default What are the main differences between Bellevue and Issaquah

I know the both have great schools. We are relocating from Orange County and live across from parks, walking trails, great shopping...we have it all. I have narrowed it down between Bellevue and Issaquah but I'd like to hear everyone impression of them both.

I don't want to be too remote. I am used to being very close to everything. Thanks!

One is more suburby than the other. Bellevue is closer to Seattle, has more shopping and a more diverse neighborhood. Issaquah has more trails, more outdoors, but not as good shopping. Issaquah is substantially less, in COL.

They mean that Issaquah has cheaper housing.

Newcastle doesn't have a real downtown. It has a couple of strip malls, with supermarkets and restaurants. And a very awesome fruit and vegetable stand. It's also really close to Bellevue, Issaquah, and Renton, so all kinds of shopping and restaurants aren't very far away.

Being from Orange County myself (grew up in Irvine, was most recently in Aliso Viejo), I think you'd like Issaquah Highlands. It reminds me more of Orange County than any where else I've been to in WA. It's a great place for kids (tons of parks, hiking trails, etc.), and it's minutes from a Target, Trader Joe's, Michael's, etc.

ahhh yes, sounds perfect, but there aren't that many homes on the market in IH and the yards are SO small, so just wanted to keep my options open. I do appreciate your help!!

One of the reasons we did not buy there was because how small the yards are, so I totally understand. I did enjoying living there the three years we rented, but I'm happy to have a yard now.

You'll definitely get more yard in Newcastle.

We also looked in IH (very seriously) and ended up buying in Newcastle because the lots were larger and the build quality seemed nicer than IH. It is true that there is no downtown in Newcastle, however, the location is what is great about the city (near I-90 and 405) along with Lake Boren and Newcastle Beach Park - you can also get to downtown Seattle or Bellevue very quickly. If you do look in Newcastle, be aware that there are 2 school districts with Issaquah being the better one and Renton being less desirable.
