Help build my fantasy (good towns for tech commutes) (Seattle: home, neighborhoods)

OK. We're just in the fantasy phase now, but I've convinced my wife to consider a move to the Seattle area. I need to do some research before I pitch a vacation there.

But it's so spread out. I need some sample neighborhoods.

We're both techies. She would probably continue to work from home. I'd be looking for a software R&D job -- linux or mac, not Windows. When this gets real, I'll find the job before moving out and then decide where to live. But for selling the idea...

Are the tech firms clustered? Where? What are the nice places to live nearby?

Looking for places:

1. With an easy (< 20min.) commute to multiple tech firms. I hate traffic.
2. Where we can get a nice 4 bedroom home for $500k.
3. Where a multiracial family will be accepted.
4. With good public schools. We have a 4 yr old.
5. With some walkability. Not downtown Seattle, but some eating & shopping nearby.
6. With good high-speed internet access.
