Default Information about Covington and/or Maple Valley

Hello,

I am doing some Craigslist searching for rental homes and have a question. I noticed that homes in Covington and Maple Valley are MUCH cheaper than around Kirkland/Redmond area. You can get more for your money in Covington/Maple Valley. I understand that Kirkland/Redmond are expensive areas to live in and I'm afraid to ask why Covington/Maple Valley are so much cheaper, is it a ghetto? The houses pictured look amazing, I'm just worried about the surroundings.

Thank you.

The reason that rentals and home prices are much less expensive in Covington and Maple Valley is that they're not real close to where a lot of people work. Not close to the employment centers of Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle. They're not ghetto. Maybe not as wealthy as Kirkland or Redmond, but not ghetto.

Thank you Ira500, you put my mind at ease, it would be a good place to live for someone that doesn't mind the drive.

Ghetto, in Maple Valley? Save for a few meth heads, you're not speaking about Rainer Beach, etc.
Reason why they are cheaper, is they are slightly isolated, from the rest of the I-405 area. Driving from/to Bellevue to Covington/Maple Valley, is easily 1 hour on a normal rush hour, 1.5 when you have rain, accidents, etc.

What about commuting to federal way from Maple Valley? Any idea how long that would take?

Not long at all, you have Hwy 18 which isn't as badly congested as the other hwys. Depending on where you are and where you'll end up (because both FW and MV are big areas), expect at least 25 minutes minimum.
