I have to say, this being my first September in Seattle, I'm really enjoying the weather. The cool, crisp, clear days remind me of October in New Jersey (where I lived for a year), and there are a few days in January in San Diego that are like this.

Today was gorgeous.

Oh, and my husband has been taking a few pictures downtown the last couple days, if anyone is interested:

Do you have a job, Pwright? Or do you just walk around all day?

Embraer, you are such an over-the-top extremist!

Quote:
People were avoiding the outdoors wherever possible. Ozone alerts were in effect and the news stations were pleading with people to carpool and not stay outdoors for too long.
I have never EVER heard of an "Ozone alert" here in Austin. Not once. Nor have the news stations pleaded with us to do anything other than watch them everyday at 5 and 10. We haven't even hit 100 one day this year.

I relandscaped my front lawn yesterday. Things are still blooming gorgeously! I'm going to add to it today. Drew hopscotch with chalk for my 3 year old, and when my 7 year old got home from school he and his best friend went swimming in our pool. When my husband got home from work he mowed the lawn and did the edging. I think we spent most of yesterday outside enjoying the sun, playing, working and having fun. I think I even got a little more brown on my arms. Imagine, tanning in late September! That's one thing I don't miss from Seattle. My perpetual pastiness.

Today, because it's still gorgeous - I am going to go to Home Depot and continue on what I started yesterday in my lawn.

Any pics from today Pwright?? My paper shows cloudy and rainy. Is it lying to me again?

Jenbar you are too much. LOL!! Yes I do have a job. Don't be jealous. And yes I do walk around a lot. Something I couldn't do in 90+ degree opressive heat. Right now as I type this, I'm down at the Pike Place Market sitting on a bench feeling the brisk cool breezes off of Puget Sound. Couldn't have it any other way. Does anyone else get the notion that Jenbar misses Seattle?

I guess it's true that we all find different conditions comfortable.

I'm looking at the conditions in the Seattle area right now and it's 50 degrees, low clouds/fog, and 90% humidity. For me, that would require bundling up if I were to sit on a bench off of Puget Sound and enjoying the cool breezes. I'd probably have to go inside after a few minutes of that.

Yesterday where I am, it was 91 degrees with a gentle breeze that picked up in the afternoon with humidity in the 15% range and I was sitting out in the shade, sipping a cool drink, I was in shorts and a tshirt, doing work on the internet, occasionally looking up at the view of the mesas, mountains, the various birds circling above, and the few whispy clouds in the blue sky. I was out there for hours.

We all have a different perspective of what is right for US. It's not a matter of being right or wrong. It's not a matter of bashing one area. It's what we as individuals find comfortable and it's different for each of us.

yes, your right.. we all have different likes and dislikes. Where I live I could throw a rock
(if you could find one) and hit the gulf of Mexico. Beautiful emerald green water. so clear you can see the bottom.( a hot as a bathtub!) My parents sent us all kinds of pictures of this place before we came. Snow white beaches, sea oats, great scenery.But....when we got here the heat was absolutley oppressive. Don't bother to fix your hair, the humidity make it impossible. The kids don't come out to play from june thru aug.Sad...
I miss the northwest and can't wait to return. The smell of crisp autumn leaves and the
fireplaces going. I 'm ready ( 10 years has been to long) I can say I gave it a fair shake and
the south is not for me. Can't wait till we sell our house. Nice place too, on a lake and everything but I'd give it all up just to get out of here.

I know what you mean Doni, I have a Gulf view from my desk (right now) lol. What I don't really like about the South is the lack of fresh water - it's all chlorine or salt water. Course if there was fresh water, you probably aren't very safe to go in it. Not to mention, I go for a nice evening walk, get an ant in my shoe, and now my toe's the size of a blimp. Hate those things. And the humidity. You shouldn't need a shower after a 15 min walk.

Seeing as DH is a cold weather indoor lubber, I may end up out there in a few months. (Which might not be so bad, I've decided, if I can try and minimize problems beforehand.) I am actively seeking an apt. complex with a nice hot spa outside, hopefully with nice views. Oh and some of them have saunas. I'm thinking I can handle PWright's views and city scapes, if I have superhot water and air to hide in often. *lol*

I agree! I'm in Destin. Where are you ladyjuliek? Pwright's pictures just enforce my
desire to leave and head north. Our lake has the occasional gator and snakes!

I actually laughed out loud about that one. Like, in real life.

Don't be jealous of ME - I don't have, nor need, a job outside of taking care of my house and kiddos. I spend my days doing stuff at home and hanging around with my friends and our kids. Rough life.
