I can't remember the last time I cashed a check. You base your decision on where you bank on a daily basis on whether you can walk in and cash a check?

I mail my deposits. Alot of people have their checks deposited electronically, but I like to have a hardcopy check in hand.

Wal-Mart, Safeway, etc. etc. All of them will cash a check for amount over purchase THROUGHOUT the country. That is how we get cash when we travel.

We travel with an RV in the winter and do NOT use an ATM. Why bother with a "criminal" national bank??

No, but I get poor customer service when I walk in and it takes me 20 to 30 minutes to wait in line to make a deposit I think about going somewhere else.

I think BECU is great, and have been with them a long time. If you need to do some old school in person banking, then BECU is not for you.

I deposit checks through ATMs, or have them direct deposited. The idea of going into a bank to withdraw, deposit, cash a check, etc. is laughable to me because I seriously can't remember the last time I did that. It was probably at least 10 years ago. I've had no reason to go into a bank to interact with a teller in more than 10 years!

When thinking about a credit union, it's also good to ask them about a mortgage if you think you'll be buying in the future. Thing about BECU is they are very picky about what they'll finance. House had better be in great condition.

When it comes to cashing a check in physically, then yeah, you got to go in. I highly recommend going in when it's not really busy (Tues., Wed.). Direct deposit is a better option if you hate waiting in line to cash in a check.

Can't you just download the app and take a picture to deposit checks that way?

This thread was started more than a year ago. Not sure why Triton123 bumped it. Troll?
