Californians see Washington in particular as a place done right. It's what we should have done according to many people I know. Those who love the (southern) cal life would never leave because they already think they're in the best place in the world. Those moving to Seattle do so because they love what Seattle is. I know I loved it when I was there. The last thing we want is for Seattle to become another LA or San Diego.

Excellent comments guys. I couldn't agree more. I can only speak for myself, but I do not plan on moving to WA so I can bring my So Cal baggage with me. I'm going there to be part of something you guys already perfected.
As soon as Washington turns into So Cal, I'm outta there! And moving to... uhh.. Canada.

And people in WA should welcome the people who voted for the incompetents with open arms?? It was probably the other people in CA who voted the incompetents in.

I'd rather see people leaving, it would help with the traffic and might bring the median home price below $470,000.

20+ years of people from CA migrating north would dispute that claim. If you were so good at assimilating why is WA politically turning into CA? At one time WA had a budget surplus, now we're running a $9,000,000,000 California-esque deficit.
It's interesting, many state forums at CD has a thread (or dozen) that is negative about people from California moving in. You never see a thread about too many people from any other state moving in. When was the last time you read about all those dang South Dakotans ruining everything?
Maybe someday CA will split into North CA and South CA and there will be threads about how those S-CA people are ruining everything.

Typical example of someone who is still living in the 80's. "Close the door, shut WA down, deny new ideas, take WA into a deeper abyss.

With 20+ years of absolute hysteria about CA residents moving out of their state, shouldn't the state be empty by now?

Thanks for giving a perfect example of what I was up against in Seattle. And you wonder why transplants find you cold (not all Seattlites but many). If it weren;t for the transplants your city would have shut the lights off years ago.

I've been noticing more of the Californians moving in that are low income, which is a change from the past when you'd see the californians bidding on the most expensive houses in the neighborhood. Seems like a sign of the times.

Most of the "native" californian's are middle class/low income people. The "californian's" that you refer to are the ones that are transplants from other states. They move to california from the East with their "old money" make more money and then move to Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Washington and make the big houses and boost the property prices.
