I looked at their website--they have great prices...too bad I can't buy boots online--have to be sure the boot has comfortable fit, so got to buy from actual store paying more..

well, you can return them if they don't fit and you have not worn them outside, but yes, I agree, that's a bit of a pain. I only returned a pair once though and got another size You have to pay for return postage though). They usually indicate on the product page if the shoes are true to size and people talk about it in the reviews as well. My Asolo hiking boots I bought there for 120, at REI they were 225...I like REI and do buy stuff there but that difference is just too much...

If you wanna buy locally, the Nordstrom Rack in down town is worth a look, there are also outlet malls north and east of seattle, with Columbia outlets and that shoe store...can't remember the name, they've always got a good selection of water resistant trailrunners and similar footwear,

I thought the best bet was sports stores...or mountaineering stores. Let me know if you recall the name of that shoe store, I'll look it up. I usually can only feel comfortable with 1 boot out of 10 I try. I guess one way to do it is to try shoes in a place like expensive sports store and then buy them online from that website. I need them asap though...

can't remember the specific name but it's at this outlet center: Seattle Premium Outlets

There's also a Columbia Store there and a Nike store, both usually would have some outdoor footwear. As I said, if you don't want to drive there I'd recommend having a look at the Nordstrom Rack in downtown. There's also a Premium Outlet in North Bend, similar stores to the one in Tulalip but no Columbia Store (I think).

OK, thank you, I'll check them out.

I just realized that Sierra Trading Post does have real-life stores and one not too far from me...for some reason their website gave an impression they were online-only store.

I got some spray-on stuff called "Penquin UltraDry" that sprays on. I used it on a motorcycle jacket and it seem to work well. It works on leather, which is somewhat unusual for the waterproof spray-ons. The downside is that any such product is probably not going to breathe. That may or may not be a problem for you. With a motorcycle jacket it obviously is not since there is plenty of air circulation going on.

I can't remember where I bought it. Maybe Fred Meyer or REI.... I will look around because my can of penquin is almost empty.
