I'm relocating to Seattle by then end of the month for a new job and I'm looking for a 2 bedroom apt in the $1200 range hopefully near a public transportation route. My new job is in downtown Seattle and I'm hoping to find somewhere in a nice "family" neighborhood that's not much more than a 30 min commute each way. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks for your help!

Hmm.. well for $1200 for a 2 bedroom, you'll get nothing in the actual city. Lynnwood, Renton, Kent, maaaaybe certain parts of West Seattle you could probably find something. But if you plan on using public transportation to get to work from those areas (actually, even just your own car for that matter), it's easily a minimum of 30 minutes when you add in all the traffic and construction here. I live in Seattle and commute to downtown Bellevue for work. It's something like 12 miles, but it takes me on average 40 minutes to get there. Now, if you're going in really odd hours (like 5am), it won't take that long, but on average that's about right.

Anyone have recommendations for $900 or less for a studio or 1bd? There's two of us and we have dogs. Looking to be as close to downtown Bellevue as possible. (Job is on 108th Ave)

I don't know if even Renton would have a $900. apartment. Have you looked at Craig's List?

We've been searching CL lately, and Renton and Kent always pop in in my searches, and there's quite a few studios and 1 bedrooms at $900, but rarely under unless you want to live in a sardine can. I couldn't tell you about what neighborhoods their in since I don't ever go down that way. Every once and awhile you may find a studio in Bellevue for $900... but it's few and far between. And usually old, and well, old.

If I saw something in Bellevue for $900. I would assume something is wrong with it like it's a tiny old studio facing the Factoria mall parking lot and getting all the noise from I-90.
