We have lots of friends and are way more social than we ever were in Seattle, since we've left! We aren't originally from Seattle, but lived there for quite some time - and I have always had family there.

It matters not what you do,or who you think you are...Seattle will reject you
and break you...the mold will eat your soul here.

I have immediate family members in Seattle and on the other side of Washington State so I travel out there all of the time. People have been generally nice overall. I have one question of some of you Seattlites posting on this forum--do you live in the city of the suburbs? Usually, there is a big difference between social interaction in the city and burbs.

I live in the city and I DO think there is a difference.

Yeah.

It seems that a lot of the people on this board that moved from a Sunbelt suburb or any other conventional suburb to a Seattle suburb have a bad experience or become disillusioned while a lot of people who move into the city of Seattle because they desire a more urban environment end up liking the city a lot more and have no problem making friends there.

If anyone out there has experienced otherwise, please let me know. I think this is an interesting topic and similar discussions could be had about a lot of other metro areas.

I was treated very mean in Seattle. Luckily I had to be there only a few years. I was met with sayings such as "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much" and people also said they would like to "blow up" the bridges and highways to "keep foreigners out." I guess a fellow U.S. citizen was a "foreigner." The driving reflects the nasty attitudes, with people refusing to drive right (won't change lanes when approaching merges, etc), cutting off, etc.
