So, despite being from the greater Seattle metro area, it turns out even I have questions about some stuff!

The title of the thread pretty much says it all. I recently took up a new job in the SODO area, and assuming all goes well, I'm considering finally leaving the south sound to live closer to work, and Seattle since I drive up there almost every weekend to do stuff anyways (So sometimes, I feel like the money I save living south just goes back into the gas tank anyway, even w/a 4-banger). At this time, I will definitely be renting, not buying anything.

I'm mainly looking into somewhere in West Seattle, as (at least based on the nicer areas) I like it's laid back, neighborhood-type feel, but it still has enough fun stuff to do/walk to, easy access to SODO, close enough for me to downtown, etc. Plus, if I end up in a living solo situation, it seems to be a bit easier to find reasonably priced housing than the most happening areas (like Capitol Hill) based on what I've seen.

I know that the Delridge area tends to be considered a mixed bag. I'd prefer to avoid the south end of Delridge near White Center. But what about up north? Are there some nicer areas with businesses within reasonable walking distance of apartments? Or is it mostly residential/houses, kind of like how Beacon Hill is? Just wondering if it's an area that would offer what I'm looking for or not.

I don't think I'd live on Delridge Way itself, but the area bordered by Delridge on the east and Avalon Way to the west is reasonably nice, a pocket of niceness. It's less "hoppin" , less hip and busy than other parts of West Seattle, but there are a few places to walk to for good coffee or breakfast and not all that far from the Junction or Alki. There's also the Longfellow Creek trail there.

Thanks, good to know! I'm mainly looking for something in or not far from the Junction or North Admiral, but I don't want to rule out other good options either. Pretty much as long as it has easy access to California Ave and Spokane St/the West Seattle bridge, and in a good area is what I'm after.

Ok, I actually have one more question on an area outside of Delridge, but still in West Seattle. I found some stuff on 35th, near Barton st. (So, southeast of Lincoln Park, but northwest of White Center). Just wondering if this is a relatively decent area? Some of what I found seemed unusually cheap for West Seattle, but it was for an older building. So I'm wondering if it's cheaper because of that, or other reasons like being far enough from The Junction/closer to White Center?

I realize I wouldn't be within walking distance of fun stuff, but it'd still be a short drive away. Unless I find a new roommate in time, I'll need to stick to older 1 beds/studios/MIL type deals
