Hey there and happy spring!! If you didn't know any better, it looks and feels like late June or so. I'm dying to know if there's any place around Seattle that would be best to enjoy clear skies and warm weather. I know last summer I found out about:
  • Discovery Park
  • Greenlake
  • Kerry Park
  • Crystal Mountain
  • Mt. Rainier (Paradise)

I'm just really wondering if there's a place around here that would have a fantastic view of the mountains?

I THOUGHT that was Tiger Mt. but I screwed that up yesterday because the parking lot on the east side was closed and I didn't know there was a trailhead parking lot on the north side.

Plus I'm looking for an easy way to see all of this, mainly because I decided to bike from Mill Creek to Fremont yesterday and my legs are officially gone. haha

Thanks!

entry to state parks is always free. You just need discovery pass for parking which is not expensive. Try Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah or Marymoor County Park in Redmond.

Too late now, with the clouds back, but we did a weekend trip to Portland. We could see Mt. Rainier clearly for much of the way, then Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Hood over the Columbia River. Spectacular weekend for that drive, 78 in Portland. My favorite view of Mt. Rainier is from Highway 410, just past Crystal Mountain Ski Resort. It's a little early yet, wait for a clear day after the road re-opens, usually about May.

My understand is you get some kick ass views from the top of Mt. Si.

But today is cloudy. Yesterday would have been great.

UW's cherry blossoms are almost in full bloom. Go catch them before they lose their petals in a week and a half or so.

Check out Whidbey Island on a clear day and walk some of their beaches. They have some quirky stuff there too. Or check one of the other islands.

Of course on a beautiful day you could also go to the top fo the space needle. If you don't mind the $18 admission fee.

Columbia Center is better and it's only $9.

What can you see on Whidbey island or San Juan island?

Whidbey has Ebey's Landing, Fort Casey, and Deception Pass. Ebey's landing has a great bluff walk and a great beach walk overlooking Admiralty Inlet, Port Townsend across the water and the Olympics, plus shipping traffic. Fort Casey is an old army base that is now a park with interesting old structures to look at and more great views of Admiralty Inlet. Deception Pass is simply a must-see if you live in the area, and don't miss out on Bowman Bay on the north side of the pass.
