According to the evening news, police are expecting lots of violence in Olympia, but Seattle may get some of it as well. I've gone through a lot of riots in Seattle, specially when you live near downtown, they are no fun.

Normally I walk through there every day, but may decide to drive Wednesday and avoid the mess.

Do Seattle Police have any evidence of this potential event occuring? If so, they would, or should release it. Frankly, I don't believe any of this hype.

Someone explain to me what May Day means in Seattle and why people riot because of it?

I don't think we'll actually have riot this time around, but this is what happened last year: May Day demonstrations turn ugly in downtown Seattle | KING5.com Seattle

Sure.

Battle in Seattle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However, with the exception of last year, there has not been a repeat. Even last year was minor compared with 1999.

I would expect SPD to provide a warning if they expected anything this year.

Its not the march itself... Its the morons who want to mess things up by causing chaos. Its always best to do it when there's a mass of people around so that they can hide and instigate.

Yeah, this isn't about a direct protest. It is about a general protest about how the civilized society conducts business. It is completely stupid, but they have the right. What they don't have the right is to destroy property. This is why it is a big deal. But frankly, there are no signs this will occur in Seattle on Wednesday.
