Everyone will tell you about the Puyallup Fair (now they're calling it the Washington State Fair), but my favorite is the Evergreen State Fair (the ORIGINAL WA state fair) in Monroe. It has more of an authentic feel, more farm animals and all that. Puyallup Fair is all about the rides and people selling stuff.

I noticed there are a few other smaller state fairs in Lynden I think and around Centralia. Those probably also have a more authentic old fashioned country type fair feel. I went to a lot of classic rural state fairs in Vermont growing up with all the farm animals.

I went the Wooden Boat Festival a couple years back and thought it was fun. It's on Lake Union.
