Ok I lived in both states before. I've heard people saying nasty things about both and I've personally experienced them as well. I wonder which one is the nastiest. Let's take a look.

Californians:
They have a really strong "bully on the weak" mentality. From all the jobs I've worked, some of the worst cases of work bullying I've witnessed are from Californians. Matter fact it's not really about weak, it's about whoever love peace and try to keep things civilized and avoid troubles. The targets Californians preferred are usually keep themselves to themselves, somewhat calm but also timid, do not pose threats. Some Seattlites are kind of like that too, but to a lesser extent than Californians. The only ways to deal with them are acting harder than anyone as they seem to respect nothing but whoever is the most violent or "hardest" in the group. When you do, they all act like bunch of ***** cats but they'll resort to the good old fashion snitching and nasty rumors.

Western Washingtonians/Seattlites:
While they're not as big of an ******* compares to Californians, people from that region often make me wonder "Dude, is this guy home schooled or what?". They have really low social awareness, doesn't know how to talk to people, often time they'll either ignore you when you're try to be social, or they'll try way too hard to fit in with you. They're not just anti-social, the key words are they DO NOT know how to socialize. All of these screamed out "dork" and "loser". And if they don't like you for whatever reason, they'll purposely doing things to make you uncomfortable while being nice to you at the same time.

Also both Californians and Western Washingtonians are really quick to judge a person, usually based on something stupid to be honest...either over a political debate or some stupid things the person did as a kid...I always find it difficult not to laugh at them when I ask them why they don't like a particular person. And both Californians and Western Washingtonians are quick to judge too...when they don't like you, be expected to be disrespected FOREVER. They're quick to judge and once they judged it's nearly impossible to change their opinions. Once they don't like you, there's nothing you can fix.

With all that being said, which ones you think got the most difficult personalities?

I haven't seen a more negative, troll-baiting thread in a long time...

California is a huge state, and it's hard for me to just think of one personality type in general that supposedly somes up the whole state. I never spent much time in Southern California and there was plenty of difference in general between Sacramento and Santa Cruz and the Bay Area the North Coast... There's a few people who will big league you in the Bay Area, but there's plenty of laidback folks as well...

I've never had any problems in general with people in Seattle except for the few times I wore an Oregon Ducks or Portland Timbers shirt...and that's just fun sports rivalry stuff... For the most part I find Northwesterners pretty mild-mannered.

Troll or not troll, you say whatever you want. I just state my opinions after a bad day with this co-worker of mine from Pittsburg, CA. Trolling? Click the cancel button then.

And as for the 2nd guy...I'm living in Kent, WA and I've also lived in San Gabriel, CA (in LA county.), prior to moving here.

OP, what age-group do you work with and hang out with? I've never seen anything like you describe in CA or Seattle. The people you describe sound like maybe they're not too long out of college....? I'd never heard of workplace bullying until recently via the internet. What profession are you in?

Another dumb generalization thread about how everyone is exactly the same because they live in the same region.

Good god, people. California has millions of residents, WA has millions of residents. S T F U already!

Agree. Most people I know here aren't even from the PNW! Most have moved here from all over the country for work reasons!

Ha! I lived in Des Moines, WA and currently live in L.A. County not far from San Gabriel.

I spent a couple of days in a gym of a Pittsburg, CA high school with a Drum and Bugle Corps while I was living near Seattle.

Long live Contra Costa County!
