Women do approach men, but more often than not, they don't use a one-liner. They start up a casual chat. They use the non-approach approach, that's more about being friendly than spouting some kind of come-on. It's more subtle. That's the approach that works best for everyone, imo: male and female alike.

Couple things.

1.) She's from Alaska. Alaska scores like 50/50 on the "no single women" depth chart, and she looks to be fairly attractive - HB6 or 7 territory. I'm sure she had more male attention than she knew what to do with up there and was spoiled rotten by it. News flash, you're in a big, cosmopolitan city now. You're fighting for air with not only locals, but people from all over the county who've come here to stake their claim. Many of them are going to be prettier and more talented than you are. Basic supply and demand econ there that simply isn't favoring her to the wild extent it used to. (Ladies, if you're desperate for male attention, move to Alaska. Whatever you're hiding in your pants suddenly turns into shares of Google.)

2.) Comes across like a little girl pouting and stamping her feet because the boys aren't playing by the rules of her game. Typical neo-feminist play action - it's all the men's fault! Shame the men into letting us have it both ways by calling into question their masculinity! Why aren't you paying attention to me! I daresay the men are onto something when the women start squirming like this. It would be hilarious if single men everywhere suddenly decided they wouldn't pay a bit of attention to single women, for a week or so. Maybe a month, just to prove a point. That's not going to happen obviously, but it a sense it sort of is, just on a more limited, longer-term scale. Marriage and birth rates have been on the slide for decades, and we've got a whole new generation of future cat lady's and confirmed bachelors on our hands.

The bolded is pretty much the way it is in Seattle all the time, not just for a week or two.

Nice theory about her being from Alaska. Actually makes sense, if it weren't for the fact that women from all over the US, as well as women raised in Seattle, have pretty much the same experience as the article author.

Well I don't really believe that, but, just wait till VR porn becomes mainstream. Men will have even less reasons to deal with women in real life.

Oh I'm not saying these are enviable social patterns. Don't misinterpret.

People still go to bars to find dates? How inefficient.

Actually, walking up to somebody you think is attractive and giving it your best shot is a hell of a lot less of a time waster than playing footsie on the internet dating sites for days or weeks with people you're not even sure you'd be attracted to if you were standing next to them. JMO.

True, but bars aren't necessarily the best places to do it.

Bars arn't the place I go to find quality women and I just don't prefer wasting my time go to them personally, especially spending on horrendously overpriced drinks
