The Renton School district is a very mixed bag. The elementary schools within the Renton district which are thought of as the worst are Lakeridge, Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill, and Highlands. The best elementary schools in the Renton school district are Hazelwood, Maplewood Heights, and Kennydale. So if your kids will attend public schools, avoid living in those areas which will send the kids to the worst schools:

There are also parts of Renton that send to neighboring districts. On the northeast side, it's the Issaquah district( very good), on the southeast side it's the Tahoma( Maple Valley) district, also very good. On the south it's the Kent district, which is a mediocre district, but the Kent schools within Renton are very good.
If the job offer is in Renton, living in Lynnwood would be a mostly painful commute. There are enough places in or near Renton with good schools and lower house prices that you wouldn't need to live that far away from work.

Okay thank you so much! You information is going to be very helpful. Yeah Lynnwood seems to be too much of a hike for us. I know traffic is bad there but then again while I was living in Jersey some days it took me forty minutes to go six miles!
