Seattle couldn't support an NBA franchise any longer, what makes you think it could support a brand new franchise?

I believe the NHL doles out teams.....by $$bid (and favoritism). They have pretty much decided that there will be no more expansion teams, so other cities have to wait now till one of the current NHL team owners decides to divest himself of a losing interest.
I believe in recent years, the Phoenix Coyotes, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, the Washington Capitals, and Columbus Blue jackets have been close to insolvency.
But I remember that Seattle money has shown interest in NHL hockey teams before....and lost....or been cold shouldered. The NHL is an insiders organization, a good-ole-boys network. Or massive money. Seattle has neither.

Actually Nashville seems to be the team most likely to relocate now. Some rich guy in Hamilton, Ontario was trying to buy them to move over there but Bettman *puke* stopped it because he said the lease for the arena in Nashville wasn't up yet or something like that. Also, Ottawa was REAL close to getting moved at one point.

Seattle Celtics?! nice ring to it i just picture there uniforms being green.. Seattle's a wealthy city with a good hockey fan base and imagine Canucks and celtics rivalry always good for the game ^^ Also have a proud history to add to that. This the only US city ive heard of that makes a little sence K.C doubt highly, Las Vegas plz god NO, Hartford hated them but now that there gone miss unfortunatly its to small. As for Canadan teams quebec NO not much support and no arena!!! Winnipeg Hm its 50/50 I think it could operated right, time will only tell for them. Im from Hamilton you the near the CENTER of hockey world!? and we strongly deserve a team over anyone else Buffalo is out of the limits to say anything and it would never touch the juggernaut leafs in fact it help create yet another rivalry and force leafs to maybe put a decent team out there.. We have an arena hold over 17k needs little work with the luxury boxes but good thing we built it to expand!! deposits taken down in FEW days with the preds reached 8 thousand have alot of corporate for the GTA lined up. Anyway had to make my point clear bottom line im all for Seattle and I do like hockey in some the southern areas anyone whose a hockey fan wants more people to join look at Dallas! not a hocket market? WRONG they do great same with San Jose. Hopefully Florida teams will pick up maybe one less and pheonix hate to say it but has to go few real ones there i feel bad for.. Seattle just needs an ARENA, with all the money the city has how hard could it be^_~

Ya first game back in Seattle they could raise that banner against the now hated Canucks what are Metropolitans though? what would there logo look like?I think there better one like Seattle:
Celtics- Green and mean!
Seaeagles- very original use of bald eagle maybe:P
Whalers- I like love there logo and its green which is Seattle
Americans/Patriots- to create that rivalry against Canucks V Americans?
All in all I see there colors being blue(light maybe) and green alot like the canucks building more hate but different more of what Seattle famous for there Seahawks so keep close. Ps I think location of arena is vital for Seattle that pier idea sounds amazin

Actually, Seattle could have landed an NHL franchise in the mid nineties..... until circumstances foisted upon them by the city forced the Sonics ownership to remodel the Key Arena in such a way that made it unsuitable for an NHL team. The NHL was very interested in placing a franchise here, but was basically told to eff off by the city. The remodel (and the lease that came with it) actually was the beginning of the end for basketball in Seattle...pretty ironic.

The Vancouver Canucks will fight any NHL expansion or relocation move to Seattle. Portland might be a good alternative because that market is far enough away from Vancouver and has the money and population to support an NHL team.

Seattle to Vancouver is about 176 kilometers or (110 miles) in the NHL rule book its only a 50mile to a possible 80 max that a team has right to a paticular area I know this well being from Hamilton and fighting Buffalo.
Vancouver could not block Seattle thats not a debate but in all honetly Vancouver is a big market it has all of British Columbia a team in Seattle would barely scratch Vancouver and wouldnt it be cool for Vancover to finally have a rival they must feel left out Seattle has a hockey history and is wealthier then Portland but it lacks an arena.
