to be seen in Seattle? It looked like a real house that happened to be floating rather than any houseboat I have ever seen. Was that just ¨movie-ness¨ Just like those fabulous SPACIOUS New York apartments that you see in the movies?

If there are such things, where are they located?

There's house boats and then there's floating homes. Eastlake has a huge community and there's a couple more elsewhere. Extremely desirable. Just finding one of those places to rent, especially during the summer are difficult. It doesn't come cheap. Space and car parking are usually limited.

Here's one of their website: SeattleAfloat.com: Seattle Houseboats & Floating Homes

Also, as an aside, you can't take a little aluminum boat from your houseboat in Lake Union and easily play on the beach like Tom Hanks did. There's a thing called the Ballard Locks you have to go through to get to Alki beach.

Yes they really exist and they are mostly in Eastlake which is an area on Lake Union in Seattle. Some of the hottest real estate in town and very tough to come by.

And you really can find huge, gorgeous apartments in New York. They just cost a lot.

On the Duck Tour, they will show you the house boat used in the filming - it's still there and valued at over a million dollars!

That, and Elliott Bay, which would take some nerve in an aluminum boat.

One of my favorite things to do is rent a paddle board at Aqua Verde and go paddle around those cute houseboats and check them out. They are so cool!
