We've seen a property which claims to be part of Bellevue city jurisdiction, but the schools appears to be Lake Washington schools. Is this possible? How would you check and verify which school serves the property?

I believe the most accurate way is to look at the property tax assessment of the parcel of land you are looking at. You can look up the parcel number on the King County iMap application and then query for the tax assessments, and it will tell you which school district the assessments go to.

Alternatively, you can see if you can find a scool district map for Lake Washington School District.

The ads for real estate can be wrong, but it is possible. In the Overlake area there are places where one side of the street is Bellevue, the other Redmond, and the way our streets bend and twist there could easily be homes where the next door neighbor is in a different school district.

Here is a map of the school district. You can zoom in or enter an address to see where the boundary line falls according to the property you're referencing.

Thank you, thank you! I took a short cut and emailed the school! Just one other method.

well I know that there is at least one area that matches that south of Kirkland there is a part of Bellevue that is part of LWSD... so perhaps that is the one you are thinking of , or there may be others.

School districts dont equate to particular cities in this area, regardless of their names. Most of the school districts predate the cities actual establishment or growth due to annexation. Parts of what you call city limits today of a particular city would have been unincorporated King or Snohomish counties before. Think of school districs as what the broader area was known as before at times in the past.
