I'm wondering what's the best way of looking for apartments in Seattle other than craigslist. I've looked at The Stranger online and found a few things, but am I missing something? I jusst want to make sure I get all the best info before going up there. This would be for dog-friendly living in the city, not the surrounding suburbs. Thanks in advance to any who can offer some suggestions.

The best resource is the combined Classifieds for the two largest local newspapers. The site is called NWSource.com. I selected for you to downtown and central Seattle, which has many neighborhoods, labeled on the map on that page. http://rentals.nwsource.com/rentals/...t=1&search2=No

Use the Google rentals...it will pull a whole bunch of different listings from several websites.

Craigslist was by far the best way for me to find apartments. I agree with NWSource.com and there was one more that I can't remember right now....dang it....

A LOT of really good deals can be found by just picking a neighborhood and walking around. Rentals have been hard to find as of late (although, I think that is changing ...) and landlords have not had to advertise as much; as such, many do not advertise at all! They might put a sign on the lawn, but that's it.

Pick a neighborhood and hoof it. You won't be sorry. Some of the best deals can be found that way.

Good luck!

Seattlite is right. A lot of landlords will do just that~ put a sign up in the yard. They get enough inquiries to fill the spot.

Also, a lot of landlords will hold "interviews" with all the interested parties, or just hold an open house and let people fill out applications and choose from there. So keep an eye out for that kind of thing too.

Thanks guys. I like to walk, so I think I will walk around a bit!

I'm looking into Capitol Hill, First Hill and Eastlake. Can anyone recommend any other areas for a single gal like myself (creative, 2 dogs, good access to public transportation, doesn't cost an arm and a leg)?

Don't forget about trulia.com. They recently added rentals, and the trulia rentals don't overlap much with craigslist (craigslist: individuals and some companies, trulia: companies and some individuals).
