I received a parking ticket today for not displaying a payment ticket on my windshield even though I had used the PayByPhone system to pay. I have a copy of receipt from PayByPhone clearly showing I had paid during the window that the ticket was issued. Can I get this cleared by sending in all of the copies to the court? Or will I have to take two hours or so out of my day to appear in court to argue this?

There is some mention of it here, but it doesn't seem like a complete outline of the process: SDOT - Pay by Phone project

I am curious if any of you have gone through this before.

The City of Seattle has a "hearing my mail" option that does not require you to be physically present when disputing a parking ticket (See LINK). But you still have to put in the "work" to properly and clearly present your case in writing. I've always been very successful with the latter (face to face with magistrate), especially when I have strong evidence to back up my claim.

Thanks! I figured my better bet would be to challenge it in person. I just hate the idea of taking time out of my work day and paying to park downtown to argue a $44 ticket. It still beats paying the ticket, though.
