Just wondering if there are transit routes from Auburn to Bothell to avoid having to drive so much, it's a decent commute and could take over an hour during rush hour. Looking for other options to get back and forth to work.

Thanks!

King County Metro Transit

Often it's the "first and last mile" - home to bus stop, bus to work - that complicates things.

I was able to see buses that have a route, however would be half the time to drive myself. Too bad the light rail or sound transit train doesn't connect Auburn and Bothell, that I know of at least. Thank you for that link though!

ST Trip Planner easily came up with 1) catch Sounder at Auburn Sounder Station to King Street Station and 2) transfer to ST 522 Woodinville Express to Main St & 103rd Ave NE in Bothell. Time: around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Cost: $3.75 (ORCA) or $6.25 (cash). Travel time varies with the amount of time between the arrival of Sounder at King Street Station and departure of ST 522 from 4th & Jackson.

The ST Trip Planner requires an address/cross streets or other departure/arrival point (school, hospital, etc.) that it can recognize. The time above does not include the time it takes to get from your home to the Auburn (or other) Sounder Station. The more connections required, the longer it will take.

Developing all of these far flung suburbs was a great idea when the roads were relatively open to traffic. Now, without any regional transit plan, having the development spread out over wide areas is a real mess. But guess what? "they" keep building more and more stuff in Bothell and Auburn despite still having no regional transit plan. It's a real mess. Ultimately though, it's just as much the fault of the people who choose to buy or rent in these places.

Sound Transit floats $15B plan to expand mostly rail service | Local News | The Seattle Times

Quote:
For $15 billion, Finance Director Brian McCartan says the agency could bring rail to most but not all of the marquee destinations on agency maps and the public’s mind at neighborhood forums: Everett, Redmond, Eastgate, Issaquah, Federal Way, Tacoma, Ballard, West Seattle.
They'll need additional taxing authority from the State Legislature before they can put it on the ballot in 2016.
