I see they are buying the Safeway's around here, I've never been to a Haggen and am wondering what to expect?

They used to have a Top foods in Bellevue, but it closed maybe a year or two ago, near Crossroads. It was decent enough food but more expensive than Safeway. We prefer Fred Meyer or QFC anyway so it won't make any difference to us.

Back before Whole Foods was popular, Haggen was the store just below the top - which at the time was Larrys.

How they're positioned now is probably going to depend on the neighborhood. Some of the Safeways are kind of ghetto, it's hard to see them moving up to a position just below Whole Foods.

I would love to see the Safeway in the Issaquah Highland revamped. That store is awful! I'd love a higher quality grocery store with tons of organics there!

Just wait for the Sammamish Metropolitan Market, they will be building it at 228th and SE4th where the green caboose sits in front of the house.

I think they have a lot of organic produce (a lot of produce in general), but I agree otherwise... it doesn't fit the demographic living here.

There is one in Woodinville. It took over another grocery store earlier this year (Top Foods?)

I like it. They have a nice bakery and stuff like that. The quality is a little better than Safeway and Albertsons although not quite Whole Foods / Whole Paycheck level.

I am surprised that Top Foods/Haggen is expanding. Their big store in the Crossroads area of Bellevue closed recently. When I lived in Snohomish, I usually shopped at Top Foods -- good produce and butcher counter. Most of the Safeways near me are run down.
