We are young couple (<30) relocating to Seattle to work for Amazon HQ from Israel.
Where do you recommend us to live?
We really like the city life (Culture, restaurant, Gym, etc..)

I know there are lots of threads open with the same questions... but they are relatively old or talking about families with children.

I'd say these look at these city neighborhoods-Lower Queen Anne, South Lake Union, Fremont, Capitol Hill and Ballard. All would meet your needs. Ballard would probably be the longest commute but still very reasonable.

most of the young couples live near work so areas such as lower Queen Anne, Belltown, and Capitol Hill are all fine. there is a nice gym in SLU next to the offices. some apartment buildings have a small gym for residents. you don't need a car.

The #40 links Ballard, Fremont, and SLU, so anywhere along that route will work.

I'd also throw in Eastlake and the U District (lots of apartments there) - with the #70/71/72/73 linking them with SLU.

While living in SLU would make for an easy commute, there is a lot of construction there, and your a ways from any good size park. The only close supermarket is Whole Foods (expensive) - there's a QFC just east of Seattle Center, but no direct bus to it. While SLU has a mix of stores and restaurants, it has no where near the variety that Capitol Hill, Lower Queen Anne, or Ballard have.

Capitol Hill, Belltown (closest to downtown and work), Lower Queen Anne Hill would be the closest to downtown and to your job. Queen Anne and Capitol Hill also have their own restaurants. Capitol Hill has the most activity and nightlife, aside from downtown.

When I lived in lower Queen Anne there was a Safeway over there that was pretty convenient.

It is still there - on 1st Ave W and Mercer. Was rebuilt and expanded in the past, replacing the old parking lots with underground parking. There is also a Metropolitan Market (the old Larry's) at 1st Ave N and Mercer.

It's an easy drive to either (or the QFC, east of the Center) from SLU. Too bad there isn't a bus running along Mercer, now that it is two-way. Probably will be, someday. As it is, you'd have to walk to Denny and catch the #8 to get to Lower Queen Anne on the bus from SLU.

Yeah I took the #8 bus to SLU when I lived there.

I walked over to the Safeway to go shopping, etc.

It was nice and convenient to Amazon. I also rode my bike sometimes as well.
