We are a young 30's couple, no kids living in the suburbs of Philly but originally from Phoenix, AZ and have never been to Seattle. I just found out we will be moving for my job which is located in Bellevue near 124th ave NE and NE 12th st.

Obviously Bellevue is quite expensive to live (27%) higher housing than where we are now. I'm trying to figure out what areas/direction I can look in that meet the following wants/needs:

1. Prefer no more than 30 min commute
2. Need a place that is also going to be near restaurants and/or country/golf clubs as my other half is a chef.
3. Need somewhere that accepts large breed dogs (60 lbs)
4. No more than 1500/mo. rent but would prefer less
5. Somewhere "safe" to live while we learn the ins/outs of the area
6. Anything else I should know or look out for seeing as we have never visited and are moving blindly?? Note, we blindly moved to PA also so I'm not concerned we will enjoy the new experience!

Thanks for any and all help!! Guess I should start packing...

I worked in that area at one time and ended up living about 45 minutes away in Auburn because I wanted to rent somewhere with a yard. I don't know much about renting with large dogs though. I currently live and work in Tacoma with two cats.

Part of it is going to depend on whether you want a dog friendly apartment or if it's critical to have a yard. Redmond, Issaquah and Sammamish have a lot of parks and places to take dogs to but 1500 would be an apartment in those areas. A yard would require a farther commute.

Do you WANT to move here or are you feeling forced to BC of your job? Also, will your job adjust your pay to reflect the higher COL?
