Does the plain old coax still transmit 100mb when everyone else in the neighborhood is downloading? I really don't know.
Don't forget the federal, state, local, and "screw me" taxes (like the "regulatory fee" which has nothing to do with the gov't). That's about $10/month, right?
Also, don't some of these rates require other services as prerequisites?
Is it really possible to get broadband for less than $70/month total, without already having other services from that company?

Comcast has had fiber in your neighborhood for years now, we only started advertising it now because verizon made such a big deal of having fiber to your house. And yes comcast with its "outdated coax " is just as fast as verizon.

No, because Comcast can't offer 20Mbps UPLOAD, like FiOS can. Only reason I am thinking of switching from Comcast to FiOS. I work from home and need to upload GIGS of data. Of course, FiOS doesn't have my beloved G4 HD channel. What would I do without X-Play in HD?

Service name + dollars per month would be helpful too!

If you don't need to live in Seattle....75% of Chelan and Grant County households have fiber to the house. Both counties should be at 100% in 2013.
Douglas County is still behind, but they are not limiting their speeds to 12 MPS.
Seattle has lots of high tech companies, but little high tech available to the average person. My daughter moved over there a couple years ago and is appalled with how backward the service is in Seattle.

It doesn't matter. Like most cities in the United States, the Seattle market is dominated by two -- rarely, three -- major cable/broadband providers. And, like all major cities, they divide up the territory and maintain a monopoly. In that sense, they're a cartel, not competitors. What ISP you have will almost entirely depend on where you live within Seattle. Comcast buildings sit literally right next to Qwest or DM buildings, etc.
There is a new service, however, called Clearwire. You can get it anywhere and it provides about 4mpbs worth of speed. This is fine for everything except online gaming, which unfortunately, I do a lot of.
So basically, unless you want Clearwire, you really don't have a choice.

I disagree that you don't have a choice. I am moving to the outskirts of Lynnwood and will have a choice between Verizon FiOS at 20mb/20mb and Comcast at 20mb/8mb. Both are expensive, but hey, it's a choice! And the speeds are amazing.
