I have a 3yo toddler and am looking at some schooling options for my kid.
Apparently the K1-5 public option is Series High Elementary which is a bit far and not so quality based on perceived online review.

I think the closest one is Apollo Elementary but it is in Issaquah SD.
Does anybody have experience with switching district from Renton to ISD? Is the process difficult and rarely approved?

Or would you mind sharing your 2-cent of what other options I have for a good school? I am open to private elementary as well.
thanks

Can't share any private, but you can only transfer into another district's school if they have open enrollment. Most of our schools are already maxed out, so you'll want to call. And even then, it's revokable at any time annually. All of ISD's middle schools are closed for sure.

Well, over 40% of students at Sierra Heights are eligible for free lunches, but under 20% at Apollo. Even so, SH is, according to SchoolDigger, the #6 rated elementary school (out of 14) in the Renton SD. In other words, it could be a good school, but simply with poorer (ESL?) students who don't do as well in test scores. The question isn't how it compares to Apollo, but to other schools with similar disadvantages.

You could just move into the enrollment area for Apollo, which might be less expensive than paying for a private school. It doesn't mean she'll be better off or happier there, however.

You can request Renton SD for a Choice Transfer to another district (which does not have to accept), an Intra-District Transfer to another RSD school, or an Out-of-Area-Residence Daycare Registration to attend an RSD school near your child's daycare. See:
