Was just wondering what everyone thought about the Enumclaw area. What little I've seen we kind of like it. Little more open and smaller community. which we prefer.

My biggest dilema is job. To justify moving to western washington, I'd need a better job then I have now to make it. I've been looking at the online job boards, there is tons of jobs and good pay at that. But I don't have a BA which seems to be the ticket. I'm currently an insurance agent, but would like to find something different. I like sales, but don't have to go that route. As most of the higher paying sales jobs are commission based.

So anyone have any ideas on a few companies to look at. That are fairly close to enumclaw. Something that I could make a good career move to and grow with it.

Most people I know who live in E-claw commute to work. There aren't any major (or minor that I know of) companies there. Most people work in Auburn, Tacoma, Puyallup, Federal Way, Kent, Bonney Lake, etc. Most people I know who live there love living there enough that they don't mind the commute. I'd suggest looking for a job in the surrounding larger cities, then deciding if Enumclaw is really the best place to live.

Enumclaw is so pretty... large horse ranches, dairies, forests, hills, wood sprites :-) Enumclaw has its own weather sometimes, because of the heights and configurations of the mountains at the foot of which it sits, and often the wind gets stronger there.
I can't speak about the schools because I don't know; but I do know that there is a real sense of small-town community in Enumclaw, and living there is exactly the kind of quiet rural environment that greeting cards show. :-)

Very true! I remember living in Bonney Lake, and having a nice calm day, light breeze if anything, then hearing on the news about the 50 mph winds that tore through Enumclaw at the same time. Amazing when you consider that the two towns are only about 10 miles apart.

Even with that, Enumclaw is a beautiful little town, and would be quite doable for a commute to Kent, Renton, F Way, Tacoma, etc.

I was born and raised in Enumclaw, moved elsewhere for a while and now I'm back here. I love it!

Helac is one small industry here, with 200 employees. With the short commute and gas prices, that might work out.

Most people do commute, but, as we like to say, you are 45 minutes for anywhere!

Enumclaw in my opinion, is the nicest area in the county. Its just takes a while to get anywhere from there. Unincorporated Enumclaw is huge, and that is where most of us live.

For the weather, I use the lower cascades information. There is a bank and insurance company based in the city of Enumclaw.
