I am personally in favor of draining Lake Washington and putting in a 50 lane freeway. That way we can eliminate a bunch of traffic and also be ready for the s ton of people moving up here.

They will have to finish 405 south of bellevue so that one Im sure has high priority. And those nuts will no doubt be adding those lanes as toll lanes while collecting hundreds of millions of gas tax dollars already being used for it. How we were stupid enough to allow them to make that extra added lane to 405 north of bellevue that will be done this year into a toll lane is something that boggles the mind. The project was funded and allocated as a general purpose lane and paid for by the nickel and partnership gas taxes. And now they charge us twice so the rich snobs can use the new fancy lane and we all have to row with the masses.

We as a society are DONE building new freeways to increase road capacity.

You will see money being shifted into maintenance.

Pay attention to the new cars. Road capacity is about to take a real leap due to new automobile technology.

No we're really not. Maybe true for urbanites who live in the city.As long as there are suburbs and increasing capacity there will be freeways built to handle the load. If we were done as a society there wouldnt be a new lane for about twenty miles from Bellevue to Lynnwood on 405 opening this year. And 522 wouldnt be being expanded with double the lanes. As much as youd like everybody is NOT going to live in the city and highways will have to be built to support the suburbs.

We're going to build new freeways to take advantage of universal adoption of self driving cars starting in 50 years or so.

They way things are done around Seattle? They'll probably remove a lane from I-90 in each direction all the way to the pass for bike riders, make one of the remaining lanes a HOT and build an animal bridge over 405 at Bridal Trails.

How would you continue 405 to Bremerton?

I would continue 405 to maybe a tunnel or a bridge?

I don't think freeways should be huge like the 30 lane ones but once you build like for example 10 lanes on I-5 won't there not be traffic because the population has reached the most it'll be like its 10 lanes each direction all the way threw the seattle metro will the population density enough to make there be traffic like wont the 10 lanes be enough? Do you guys get what I'm trying to say sorry im having a hard time expanding it! I took a helicopter tour of seattle metro and the freeways really don't take up that much space so personal I don't see the issue of adding 2-3 lanes but not letting them get huge but I don't think seattle will have to worry about that!

Seattle4321, I like your interest in this subject. However, it sounds like you are not really from here, correct me if I am wrong. If you were, you would understand that Seattle is anti-freeway and has been for atleast 40 years. However, the suburbs don't share this sentiment, so 405 expansion is what I voted for in the poll, and what WA State is voting for in general. They understand the anti-freeway movement is mostly a Seattle sentiment, so the legislature is looking for a, (excuse the term), bypass. That being said, I-5 through downtown is a mess. Something needs to be done. Even if they could squeeze out one more lane, especially NB, that would be a victory.
