Doesn't surprise me one bit.
As I mention in a previous post on another thread, I've been here (the Seattle area) for well over 30 years now and (outside of the cost of housing and traffic) Seattle (and the surrounding area) is far, far better now than it's ever been in my opinion - certainly much much better than it was when I first arrived.

Interesting to note that NYC recently had similar news regarding crime.

It looks like crime trended downward nationally last year, which is good news for everyone.
