First post here and excited to move into Seattle area this summer

I will be working at Redmond (MS Millennium Campus) and want as less commute (15 minute) as possible. We have 2 year old son so looking for townhouses (3 or 2br, 2bath, attache garage) Or condo (ground floor) with some backyard for him to run around. Walkable distance to Park and/or running trails will be great. Would prefer a community with young Indian families (if possible).

Any suggestions?

There are tons of Indian/ex-pat resources within the company.

Working at Millennium, RTC, SAMM, Main, etc. is never "forever." I'd never choose a place to live based on that criteria, or the concept that you'll "always" work for MSFT. People come and go, opportunities are where you find them. Been-there/done-that/got the t-shirt.

I assume you'll be in Corporate housing awhile, to start. You'll have a much better idea of what's going on around here after a few months on-site. Key constraint will be "budget", btw. Very little Eastside is "affordable," given desired commute window (15 minutes, meaning maybe 5-10 miles at the outside), but who knows: condos can be a good deal.

If Redmond is the ticket, I'd personally take a close look near the Sammamish River Trail area along the Slough, that being north of Redmond City Hall and the Library. Always thought those condos and townhomes were worth a look.

Thanks for response. Liked ur comment about never say 'forever'. I think we will have corporate housing for a month so it will be good to have some shortlisted communities and then visit those once we are there to make final call.

Finding a desi community in Redmond will be the easy part. The Indian community is pretty large out here in Redmond.

The hard part will be putting "affordability" and housing together. From a cursory glance at a popular online site, rentals for 3 bedrooms in Redmond seem to going from about $2000/mo to $2500/mo.
