Hi, I'm a big time movies buff and enjoy the classics. This includes movies from post World War one Germany up to movies like The Rocky Picture Horror Show, Jaws, Blade Runner and many-many more. Also, I'm into Independent films that really don't make it to the main stream theaters.

With that said, are there any theaters in the Seattle/Tacoma area that specializes in these types of movies? Yes, I know that they're out on DVD/Blu-Ray... And I have most of them. I also have a nice home theater set up, but to me, there still is nothing like going to a "well behaved" theater to enjoy a good movie... With fresh popcorn and a soda.

Basically, I'm a "nerd" and proud of it... I don't fit the normal profile of a nerd (Retired Army and law Enforcement.) but I'm a nerd at heart!!

I will be moving back home within the next few months. So, I'm planning on how to spend all my free time to keep me busy with the things I enjoy.

Thanks!!

Cinerama downtown Seattle and Admiral in West Seattle used to but not anymore. I think there is more money in showing current movies. Grand Illusion in the U Dist sometimes has classics: http://www.grandillusioncinema.org/. SAM (Seattle Art Museum) shows classics each week: http://seattleartmuseum.org/visit/calendar. The Grand Cinema in Tacoma is excellent and has a classic series: http://www.grandcinema.com/classic-film-series-1/

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but the Paramount Theater has 'Silent Movie Mondays' with live accompaniment.

You should probably look into joining SIFF, which has ongoing programs at their new home, the Uptown theaters in lower Queen Anne, as well as their huge annual film festival, now running.

SIFF Cinema | SIFF

SIFF is a lot of fun. You get invitations throughout the year to see movies, often for free, before they are released to the general audience.

The Paramount does the Silent Movie Mondays a couple times a year. I think the latest round either starts tonight or next Monday.

You should also check out Scarecrow Video. They have one of the most incredible movie collections in the country (literally). You can rent all the old movies you want. They also have a screening room and they screen a pretty wide variety.
