Some of us miss certain types of restaurants, that's all, and Settle is big enough now that there could be a lot more ethnic restaurants. I would like to see a good Jewish Deli, more Greek restaurants (Yanni's is the best so far), Lebanese, Polish etc...

Yeah, you'd think a place where people crow about diversity all day would have more diverse cuisine.

There's a nice little Bavarian deli in the Pike Place Market area, in case you get a hankering for some wurst.

Because we're not on the Pacific. What's the reason Seattle can't do pastrami and rye and kreplach soup? touche

Not really, I just like being snarky because I know it gets to you and helps cement your move. You pull no punches when describing how miserable you are, so why not have a little fun with it? San Diego's calling, no?
In all seriousness, we don't have a large Jewish community in this area, hence the lack of good Jewish delis. On the opposite side of the coin, same reason we have tons of Asian cuisine. For the most part, demographics dictate what is available to us.

I don't think it's reasonable to intrepret the original poster's question or any of the responses as complaints about Seattle -- just a general question with someone responding with a recommendation, others chiming in on whether they liked the place or not, and another comment that an entrepreneur could do worse than consider opening a good deli here.
The topic didn't get contentious until you showed up -- which is a pattern, I've seen.

I apologize if my attempt at humor was construed as trying to stir the pot. Thats what I get for trying to be the antithesis of the uptight, humorless Seattleite.

I vaguely remember reading something about a Sephardic Jew influence in the early Pike Place market, but of course they aren't the deli kinda Jew, they're more the restaurant-owning kinda Jew.
I know there was a deli at the Market, but don't remember how good it was. I do remember it was expensive but that's PPM for ya. I can't really tell a good pastrami from a bad one, they all taste about the same to me ..... but a Reuben sandwich, now that's something that varies a lot in quality, and bagels too.
I don't remember having any good bagels in Seattle .... maybe you could find the frozen Lender's ones at some of the supermarkets.
