Summertime
So how long is summertime in Seattle?
In the NYC area, everything starts to bloom in april and by may the trees are green and its warm again. Everything starts to change color and fall in october and by early-mid november everything is cold and barren again.
When does it get warm and green in seattle and when does it get cold and barren again?

It's never barren in Seattle. It's always green. There are more evergreen trees in one area than you have ever seen before.
Summer is mostly August. Often the last two weeks in July. And Occasionally the first week of September.

depends on what you think is warm....spring to me= 65 or warmer, summer = 80+ so with that info:
it's still gloomy and chilly in June for me and on average still 50s or 60s. Most people will tell you summer starts about july4th, and ends around labor day....
I too am from somewhere that warms back up in march and blooms (califor) - by may i'm going nuts in seattle

You've hit upon my MAJOR gripe about the Seattle area.
Though lots of folks complain about the winter rain, in truth - though I admit I hate the cold - it's not really so much the winters that bother me so much. Compared back East (I used to live in East Hampton) the winters here are very mild - and it doesn't really rain ALL the time in the winter, but it's cloudy a whole lot of the time. The clouds tend to keep the heat in and so that's why we have such mild winters - where the average overnight low NEVER drops below freezing. So, the winters are not really very cold by most folks' standards.
However, Seattle and all of the coastal regions of the Pacific NW are very, very slow to warm up - with average temps that only gradually climb. In January we'll typically be quite a bit warmer than NYC, but about April you'll pass us for your daily high and continue to climb faster and further than Seattle will, so that our June temps are about like your May temps. As others have mentioned, it doesn't really get reliably warm here until after the 4th of July. Most years summer is very nice - not super hot, but very nice - and with very, low humidity and generally lots of sun. However, some years - like this past year - we hardly get a summer at all.
That's when I REALLY hate the weather here.

Every now and again we get some gorgeous May and June days....in the low to mid 70s. 2 years ago, I remember studying for finals in late April in 85 degree weather.
Yes, July and August are our hotter months, but September is also hot and beautiful. People are quick to point out the rain, and even faster to forget the gorgeous late spring days and "indian" summers.

You have to admit, FoxyKnox, that having temperatures in the 80s in April is very unusual. Yes, it happens but seldom.
It's interesting that you use the words "hotter" and "hot" to describe Seattle weather. Again, yes, Seattle does get a few hot days in the summer but as I've described in numerous other threads, it invariably cools down once the sun goes down ...even to the point of being chilly after midnight on a 90 degree day. Most people welcome that. However, there is always an undercurrent of coolness because of the regions marine influence. It's not unusual at all to have a cloudy cool day immediately after having a day or two in the 90s.
Personally, I would have stayed in Seattle area if the weather that is typical in August lasted for more than a month. Yes, there are gorgeous days in late spring and early fall but it's certainly not the norm.

that is my point to people - that there are warm "days" - not weeks, not an actual month, likr most states. just sporadic days!!!you can have a fluke 80 degree day in may - but 1) it's a fluke and 2) it's short lived...
