Yes Seacove, you make an astute observation. It is interesting among my clients, I have noted that many immigrant families gravitate toward new built homes, perhaps because America represents "new" in their minds. Some of my clients have explained to me that back home, older homes aren't that well built. The irony is that many of the homes built in this country in the 40s-70s are much better built than the new development homes.

You should check out 228th - many new home developments along that road.

Also there is a neighborhood of homes, several for sale, around 120th Ave NE and NE 203rd St. Those homes are less than ten years old, I believe built by Centex which is a pretty solid builder.

I noticed this as well but then I thought about it. If I were moving to another country, I bet a new home would be more appealing because I might not feel comfortable taking on a "fixer upper" in a new country where I didn't know how to approach it or the best ways to find resources. It makes sense.

True Seacove, sad because there are some extremely well built vintage homes in perfectly remodeled status. I have convinced a few ethnic clients of mine of this and they have been very happy indeed after they purchased. The fact is, you get more square footage for the money, often nicer lots. Regarding resources, I'm able to share the names of reliable, affordable handymen with my clients who can help with just about anything.

I haven't driven by that area since those homes were built but I'm sure it's fine. It's on the west side of 405 which, in Bothell, is typically older homes but with all the growth around Cascadia/University of Washington, Bothell, I could see a lot of new building on the west side where there is available land. 228th St. SE between 27th and Highway 9 has a lot of new housing developments and just keeps growing. That other neighborhood I mentioned has a lot of Indian families, There must be four or five homes for sale in this development right now:

https://www.redfin.com/WA/Bothell/12.../home/12093593 - $515K

https://www.redfin.com/WA/Bothell/20.../home/77465549 - $565K

https://www.redfin.com/WA/Bothell/20.../home/12093590 - $555K

https://www.redfin.com/WA/Bothell/20.../home/12092754 - $529K

It's in the Northshore school district and on a bus line and across from a business park. It's also within walking distance of Cascadia/UW Washington.

Thank you, I believe you meant east of 405. These are in my list to visit this week.

This is as good a place to ask as any, what is the meaning of the decorations over the front doors? They are not the same but variations, like a half arch over the top of the front door?

Oh, are these Indian homes? If yes, then those decorations are to a symbol of welcoming people
