Metro is hiring drivers land having either a new hire or part time to full time class at a huge pace. It takes a few days or more to have drivers know a route even somewhat by heart. Plus a lot of the new full timers or part timers trying to pick up hours are driving routes they may do once every 14 days, and it's not that easy to recall turns especially in neighborhoods that look pretty much look the same.
In addition thanks to trying to run a government agency like a private for profit business at the expense of looking like they're saving $, most off the schedules are very unrealistic for drivers, except for holidays like Christmas or over night buses when most of them are realistic
You hit the nail on the head. They sit in traffic, run behind schedule because of that, then when they get to the end of the line where they were supposed to have ten minutes to run to the bathroom(which is a couple of blocks away), they have three. And someone's there wanting to ask questions like " How does this thing work?". It's not always easy to be polite.

A couple of other things that would really help drivers out specially one of them if it's at night and it's not well lit please use a cell phone which has most likely and flashlight on it that way the driver can see you a lot better as opposed to you assuming that he can see you at the stop assuming they know where the stop is. when we have to stop at the last minute because we've missed you in the dark then there's a chance we stop short and can throw a passenger forward, during the day there's not too much of an excuse for missing stops at night it's a different story.

Also, yes some drivers will just pull away from the stop and if it's close to the stop bar of the intersection still let people on while the light is red that being a key component if either of the wheels are technically away from the stop, And the light is green half the time the driver will just go through the lightand you don't get on the bus one he's probably already late as it is and two he/she is on an active roadway and we're not supposed to lead people on while the bus is moving if The bus hasn't if the bus has not moved but the light is green some of the lights are short enough where the driver has no choice but to try to make it, sent some of the lights are so short ,while I get the idea about customer service what about customer service to the customers who already on the bus?
