Relocating to seattle
We are going to move to Seattle from Israel soon. We have 2 kids (3,9) and we want to live in Bellevue area, because of the kids school ( the jewish day school) and because it's looks like a nice place to live.
We need to know how much monney we need to spend for renting a nice house (3-4 bedroom) in bellevue. and what are the prices for buying such a house.
How is the jewish day school?
Thanks a lot.

Suggest you check Craigslist under Seattle and do a search for Bellevue. I was living in Central America and found the perfect rental for my family here in Seattle by searching Craigslist. Once I found the place, I had a relative who lived here check it out for me before signing a lease, but if you don't have that option, you can still get a feel for things with Craigslist. You can really get a feel for what houses are renting for and then you can use Google Maps and Google earth to get a feel for the area. Good luck!

Shalom! Welcome to the wonderful idea of moving to western Washington state! The Pacific Northwest will be very different visually and in terms of weather -- this area seems to me to be a land of milk and honey!
First: The Jewish Day School.
Have you checked their website?
http://www.jds.org/
The school has an excellent reputation here for academics and Jewish studies. Rest assured that your children will receive a fine education there.
The address of JDS is: 15749 NE 4th St., Bellevue. That might help you when you are using Mapquest or Google maps to locate homes to rent or homes for sale.
Second: Synagogues.
There are many in Bellevue. Here's a list:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=synagog ues+bellevue+wa&spell=1
This is just a personal recommendation of mine for lively intellectual and social interaction with a group of people who are very active in the community: Temple De Hirsch Sinai. Their website is: http://www.tdhs-nw.org
They operate the Temple De Hirsch Sinai Library in Bellevue, the largest circulating collection of Judaica in the Pacific Northwest.
http://www.tdhs-nw.org/learning/special_programs.php3
Temple De Hirsch was the original home of The Jewish Day School!
Third: Rental Housing.
If you are already affiliated with a synagogue, please ask for their assistance in finding housing, and I’m certain they will be glad to provide you with good information.
The best resource for rentals is the combined Classifieds for the two largest local newspapers. The site is called NWSource.com. I selected for you down to the east side (where Bellevue is). The link as I've pasted it here has a break - don't put any breaks in it.
http://rentals.nwsource.com/rentals/searchCriteria.asp?p=C&CountyIds=20&CountyIdCount= 1&search2=No
Four: Houses for Sale.
This is the most complete collection of all properties currently available. What IS available can change, of course, every day.

Scroll down to just below the photograph, and you can click on Bellevue.
Besides Bellevue, you might also be interested in Redmond, Issaquah and Snoqualmie (NOT Snoqualmie Pass which is a tiny village up in the mountains). Parts of Redmond and Issaquah are right next door to Bellevue and are just as nice as Bellevue, and sometimes nicer. Snoqualmie is just as beautiful, but it's farther away from JDS.
I hope these ideas will give you a good start in your research!! Shalom!

Currently there are 242 homes for sale in Bellevue under 800,000 and 128 under 600,000. Only 9 are under 400,000.00 Most of the lower price homes are in Eastgate a very convenient area or Newport Hills, another area I like a lot. Here is the actual breakdown of these listings with how many days they have been on the market.
Active Listing Price Range Quantity Average DOM $350,000 thru $399,999 9 90 $400,000 thru $449,999 16 77 $450,000 thru $499,999 32 67 $500,000 thru $549,999 31 77 $550,000 thru $599,999 38 70 $600,000 thru $649,999 2 134 128 74

You might also want to consider North Seattle. There is a large Jewish population in the View Ridge area of North Seattle, also a great area for families.
