Sadly, this isn't the first time a sports team has left. We know of the Milwaukee Brewers. Any baseball would know they used to be the Seattle Pilots.

The Mariners threatened to leave if not given a new stadium. Let's just say that without 1995, there would be no MLB team in Seattle.

A lawsuit related to the Pilots helped bring in the Mariners. The Mariners were almost on their way out of Seattle by the time the 90s came. The 1995 playoffs kept the M's from leaving.

My point is that there is a history of sports franchises leaving Seattle or trying to leave.

Yes, the Seahawks almost left as well during the Ken Behring ownership.

And perhaps Seattle would have gotten back an MLB team despite the lawsuit, but probably not as quickly.

The Kingdome is a big part of all this, like it or not, it was the catalyst in bringing NFL and MLB to Seattle in the 70's. Turned out to be a big piece of junk, built on the cheap, but certainly had major influence on major leagues coming to Seattle, not only with the pro sports, but two NCAA final fours.
