I work for King County: the janitors start at about $15/hr and top-out at about $21/hr. $21/hr is actually a slightly higher wage than most employee-janitors. They also have better benefits. Most private-sector janitors with benefits make about $14-20/hr.

I know you're been out of the job market for awhile, but you really should do research otherwise you'll keep talking out of your arse.
But you and I are in agreement! I've posted twice on this thread that the difference between this type of free-lancing and working for a company or institution is that the latter people get benefits. I guess you didn't see those posts? Still, it's great work for college kids. And if janitors start at $15, you can imagine that university office staff jobs, most of which require a BA or a couple of years' experience, do pay $20 give or take, depending. Your statement supports the claim that a lot of people in Seattle do make $20/hr. or more; it's not that outlandish. Even many janitors make that or close to it, according to you.
