Never introduce themselves (well most of the time they don't) or you can go weeks or months without getting it until you make the effort?
Or you it be the White Man/Woman way of saying indirectly to minorities like me, you're welcome here, well, not really. : >(

Don't take it personally. The white people here do it to each other too. It's just the way it is here. It's unlike any other place I've lived in that respect. Not terribly pleasant but apparently the great natural scenery is supposed to make up for it... lol

For posters here that are having difficulty socially, why don't you plan a gathering among yourselves? Ultimately, Seattle may not be a good fit for you but there's no reason you can't socialize among yourselves since you seem to share the same perspective.

Even some my Nordie's are the same way but maybe they just react the way that others usually white approach them

Make an effort until they hate you, at which point, what's the difference?

Exactly. If you are naturally outgoing, just be yourself and you will find others like you. Your outward friendliness will naturally weed out the Debbie Downers, Grumpy Gretas, Sullen Sals, and Expressionless Edwards. There are great, warm, friendly people here. It just takes time to find them.

I noticed a long time ago, people dropped the custom of introducing themselves, and it's not just in Seattle. It's pretty much everywhere I've been.

Honestly, OP, if you're getting chit-chatting, you're doing really well. The place is infamous for people being too reserved for chit-chat.

In official settings, particularly the meet up groups, giving your name at least one time isn't really an issue. Maybe it's only because the formal setting of such events

It's got to a point where if I say "My nane's So and so" that feels weird, at least before the 4th encounter
