I moved here in Sept and have been hiking all around the surrounding area/ skiing in all the different areas until I tore my MCL skiing at crystal mountain. Now I am scratching my head thinking of things to do around the city because I am limited to easy activities with my hurt knee. I am not really into the bar scene. Does anyone have any ideas of stuff to do or see?

Sorry about that, could have been me the way I've been ripping it up in great snow this year. Go see the Troll under the bridge in Fremont. Some of the best sushi around town is there too: http://www.chisofremont.com

Go to the viewing deck at the Columbia Tower on a Sunday (easy, free street parking). I was impressed and I used to operate an elevator at the Space Needle.

Rent a canoe or kayak and go paddling to experience Seattle from an entirely different perspective. There are several options around town and you can have very different experiences paddling, say, Lake Union, versus Lake Washington or the Sound. Careful not to throw out your elbow.

I guess it depends on your idea of fun, OP. There's the conservatory on Capitol Hill. The aquarium. Museums. Maybe there's something interesting happening at the Daybreak Star Center in Discovery Park. There's a local events section in the newspaper to check for this kind of thing, you know.

Duffye2, if you haven't discovered The Stranger yet, now's the time! It's my usual go-to for scoping out live music, what events are happening soon, etc.
Upcoming events are here:
Stranger Things To Do - Our Picks - The Stranger

I'm sure you'll also find more info about the specific things you enjoy if you search around that website a bit.

I'm sorry you're hurt & out of commission for hiking and skiing right now. Hopefully this turns itself into a fun opportunity to explore your new city!

Try taking a tour of the homeless camps throughout the city. You can start in the "Jungle" at about Boeing field along I-5 and work your way north along I-5 past Dearborn/I-90 area and stare in wonder at the tents and garbage heaps under the convention center.

How in the hell do those people get across the traffic to their tents?

Anyway the freakshow downtown is always interesting, crackheads galore, human waste on the sidewalks. Quite a sight.

I have done a lot of the museums already, but thanks for the suggestions - lots of good ideas! Typically how long is the ski season in Seattle area? Are there any cool sights in Vancouver or Portland?

Duffy, Vancouver BC is a world class, amazing city, ranked second in the world for livability. Go walk around Stanley Park and spend time at Granville Island (Vancouver's Pike Place Market but much better).
