Right now my son and I are suffering majorly, not to mention of the terrible sinus infections. How is it in the PNW? I'm so excited, I will be in the area in two weeks to house hunt and job hunt, but I just would like to have a heads-up.

Hi Sabrial,

To answer your question in a non-formative researched way, I'd have to say yes. My credibility lies as a community pharmacist at a very busy and transient store in the Seattle area for the past 2 years. I see hundreds of patients a day, and the most common question to me is what can they do for their allergies.

The symptoms can be anything from itching all over, to burning/watery eyes, runny noes, and just feeling miserable from a combination of it all. My over-the-counter allergy medications frequently sell out and many of my patients have to take not only one form of seasonal allergy medication [e.g. a 2nd generation antihistamine such as Allegra, Zyrtec, or Clartin (and also the ones I recommend in order, for an FYI)], but often two [A corticosteroid nasal spray such as Flonase, Rhinocort, or Nasacort (also my recommendations in order)]. Sometimes even these are not enough for my patients and they still must see a doctor.

Hope this helps!

I lived at Seattle for 4 years, I started getting allergy at the third year. I was getting worse year by year. specially I know what kind of pollen affect me. but it's hard to void while you are walking on the street when it starts to bloom. I have to void to go some places with lots of blooms.

My son's asthma worsened last week due to Spring allergies. He needs the corticosteroid inhaler, flonase, and antihistamine again. We are in Bellingham with the same type of vegetation and weather.

I have been there for 3 weeks during winter and my asthma triggered very badly there. At the end it depends on your body how it reacts to the allergens. But if its better that you look out for allergens that can trigger asthma symptoms in you.

If you are prone to allergies, it may take you a couple of seasons to get sensitized to the allergens in the new area.

We do get the green pollen coating the cars, and everything, in early Spring.

If you are allergic to molds, it is really not a good area to be.

We think my wife has developed a mold allergy over the years and has had sinus infections for most of the year for many years now. We are moving to a drier climate.

The Evergreen State, means lots of stuff growing and pollinating.

It all depends on what one is allergic too. Do you know your allergies?

The Search feature really does work. I've posted these 1-2 times here in the last 8-10 months.

Read down toward the bottom. This is an International Reference Lab. They list all the possibilities.
