Obviously, what that part of town needs is more construction, more people, and more traffic...

To be technical, they're expanding, not moving, to SLU.

hmm, i think it's technically a move. There is currently an office in Fremont. Folks from the Fremont office will be packing up their computers and desks and will start working in SLU in 2019. The old office in Fremont will no longer have Google employees working there.

similar to when amazon moved from the old pac med building to SLU.

unless there's something about expansion vs moving that i'm not quite getting.

Okay, got it. Said they needed "a bit more breathing room". Helps that SLU is the global center for cloud computing. Gotta go where the action is.

An interesting bit from the release:

Ooof. I guess I am getting old but that area already seems like a mess to me with traffic and congestion. How are they going to get all of those 'intellectual capital' people in and out of that area every day? Sounds really unpleasant to me.

This is one reason I've avoided Amazon. Traffic will be so bad that people will be driving backwards

My little secret ways across town are getting more and more limited each year. I'm really hoping my business explodes this year so I can buy a helicopter.

Maybe time to buy some real estate on the city? This should drive prices up I would think...
