For vibrancy outside the door, expect to pay a surcharge, unless looking at a place like South Park.

I attended Ravenna Elementary School, even though we lived closer to View Ridge/Wedgwood. I think we were in a tight pocket on the NE section of that school's attendance area. (This building circa 1911, surprisingly still stands as housing, and still worth a look at Ravenna Avenue NE and NE 68th). Teachers circa late 60's were Itoi, Mead, Dotson, atleast those are the ones I remember.

Ravenna Park is beautiful, and very secluded, located in a ravine just south/southeast of Ravenna School. I remember playing here at some point in the late 60's and noticing big slabs of concrete deposited in the ravine. I asked my playmate what they were for and he answered "a new freeway". (This turned out to be the ill-fated RH Thompson Expressway, which was cancelled and would have gone right through the park).

The neighborhood today is desirable, thanks to gentrification. The homes, many of which were built in the first half of the 20th century have been remodeled and/or upgraded. Yes, it is less busy and quieter than Green Lake, but prices are perhaps similar, though you will play a little more for a Green Lake home within easy walking distance of the lake.
