It depends on the neighborhood. The Federal Way school district is all around bad. Tacoma on the other hand has good schools in the Northend and Northeast.

Where? I grew up in Northeast Tacoma, on the border of Fed and Tacoma. I graduated Stadium high school in 2014. My peers lived in both Federal Way and Tacoma and what it boiled down to was, if your kid can get into the Cambridge program (elementary/middle school) or the IB program (high school), they will probably end up successful. This program segregates kids, the rest of them don't end up getting very far. My peers and their parents at the time despised the Federal Way school system and many of them transferred to Meeker middle school (in northeast Tacoma) or to Stadium.
I hope your'e right. Maybe things have changed. I genuinely hope so.

Actually the entire school district requires students to take IB, Cambridge, or AP level courses depending on state test scores. They have had quite a few leadership changes in the past few years. The programs have adapted a more open door policy into the course. One does not have to apply into the program to get into the classes.
