So, when are you moving?
Aug-Sept apartments will be in flux.
By Oct-Dec you may catch a good deal.
We caught a fantastic rental condo in October. Unbelievable price. +20% appreciation.

If you could do Airbnb for a couple of weeks or shared housing for a couple of months, then you can check out locations at a more leisurely pace. Remember, Seattle has a very tight housing market.

One factor is where lots of apartments are located: Capitol Hill, First Hill, Belltown, Lower/West Queen Anne, Eastlake, University District, Ballard, and the Junction area (West Seattle). These areas are also more likely to have frequent bus service.

Note that Columbia City and North Beacon Hill are served by the #50 bus, which stops at 1st & Lander.

The #37 (from the Alaska Junction in West Seattle) also stops at 1st & Lander, and avoids crossing the rail tracks.

Have you looked at their floorplans on the website? What they show as a studio is actually a 3-room apt. + kitchen. With all the special touches they advertise, it sounds very expensive. The phone number is on the website, if you want to find out rent rates.

I think it was around $1600 for a 1 bedroom when I was there. A lot of character though and great views overlooking downtown and Elliott Bay.

Even if one of their so-called studios went for $2000 today, it would be a good deal, given all the square footage, separate dining room, and separate den/office, and separate kitchen, and "old world charm". Maybe it could work out for the OP, after all.

I'm going to check out apartments next week. Do you think 2 days will be enough to view them and lock in a place? I'll be hiring an apartment realtor to take me around.

Sounds a bit rushed or intense, but with a realtor's help, it should be enough time.

Especially being a single woman, I recommend going by the apartments you like at night and seeing if you would be comfortable walking around alone at night. Most of our neighborhoods are pretty good for that, but some might not feel right to you.
