So now that I am in Seattle for a while, I am also looking to accomplish finding a place to rent.
I have used Zillow but nothing is really coming up for me. I had a viewing arranged for last weekend but sadly they canceled it (nice family) because they decided to rent the house to their nephew and wife....

What areas (safe) can you recommend me that is:

- Walkable to local amenities such as grocery stores
- less/low/zero crime rate
- 2 bed
- house/townhouse/condo (no apartments)

Location does not matter. I am looking between 1500-2300/month range and ideally with W/D included but maybe asking too much?

which realtors would you recommend me calling to see if they can help me find a place that fits the bill above?

Well as I said - location doesn't matter. I would be working remotely.

What makes you happy? Parks nearby? Water? Mountains? Easily reachable to downtown? Do you think you want to live on the Seattle side or the Eastside?

Try West Seattle. For instance:

4507 40th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116 | Zillow
(washer/dryer and a fireplace, walking distance to the Alaska Junction)

@HomesInSeattle - good question. I really don't mind. As long as its in a nice neighbourhood and close to amenities (walkable - that's the key here) then I am happy. Nice views are a bonus.

@CrazyDonkey - thanks!

I also think the most important thing is that the landlord/lady are nice and are quick to respond to with any property issues.

If location is not an issue, why not Tacoma? It has municipal broadband Internet, for one thing, while Seattle is in the evil clutches of a Comcast/CenturyLink duopoly. Has some very nice walkable neighborhoods and rents are 1/3 to 1/2 less than in Seattle. For instance:

1339 Fawcett Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402 | Zillow

Or:

1514 N Prospect St, Tacoma, WA 98406 | Zillow

Thank you. I think the reason Tacoma didn't come into mind was because I've heard and read here its not really a good area.
