Tommy Hillfiger polo shirts and T-shirts. Always on sale, always awesome.

Yes, I have about 15 of them. The polos are nice. Thick material, and the collars hold a pressing. T-shirts are comfortable and don't wear out fast and the color doesn't fade fast. Those and Carhartt are about the only shirts I buy, unless it's a dress shirt. Then I just read the Sunday paper and get what's on sale. I've went to the SuperMall just to buy Tommy shirts. It's not a bad mall. It's dead, though. Every time I've been there...it's dead.

Bellevue Square is more more vibrant.

If you have kids, it's a great place to go and just walk around the the whole mall, which is basically a big loop. Also some good kid outlet shopping. Never busy when I go there (except sometimes the kids' play area is crowded on school breaks).

My memory is a little hazy on this, but wasn't the Auburn supermall envisioned to be something like the huge "Mall of America" in Bloomington, MN (near Minneapolis)? Wasn't that the original plan? If that is the case, something went horribly wrong!

Or horribly right, depending on what you think of the MN mall....

I don't think the Supermall was ever intended to be like Mall of America, but when it opened in 1995 it was largest outlet mall in the northwest, and had 500,000 shoppers in it's first three days. I'm sure it's not as successful as originally envisioned, but I usually prefer to shop in less crowded stores. Maybe it's subject to that Yogi Berra quote " Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

Did a little history on this, and yes, indeed the original plan for this mall was to be a mega-mall, as big as the biggest in North America! The end-result was changed by the economy, the demographics of the area, and simply not a good highway connection (at the time, and maybe still today). Who knows what would have happened if they had proceeded?

I agree. That was the plan for the super mall and it was supposed to attract families. The wife and kids could go shopping and the dad could go to the casino or racetrack. The original rule of the supermall was that the prices were required to be 15% lower than prices for the same store in other locations. I never got there because I live north of Everett but the hype only lasted a short time. I also agree that the Seattle discount mall next to the tulalip casino is great. There are 110 high end designer stores with something for everybody. Also it is partially covered and outdoors which makes it great on a nice day. There are plenty of places to snack and sit outdoors. Having the casino next door with their great buffet, the ampitheatre with its summer concerts and home depot and Wal mart down the street doesn't hurt either. Eventually there is going to be a water park. If you have an RV and want to stay overnight there is an RV park at the casino or you can stay for free in Wal Mart's parking lot. There is another shopping area being built at exit 206 ( 1 exit North of Tulalip) in Smokey Point. Right now it only has about 30 stores anchored by Costco and Target, but I heard the plan was to build a total of 400 stores when it is finished. They are currently working on a separate on and off I-5 ramp just for the center.
