Default Do you think Boeing will get the govt tanker deal?

Wonder what your opinions are on the tanker bid that's to be decided this week. What are Boeing's chances?

made in china is on a distinguished road
They'd BETTER get it. I am so disgusted with how our country bleeds money. As an American, I expect an AMERICAN company to get a military contract over a European country. But you never know these days.

Boeing is a leader in aviation and highly competitive. Even aside from the patriotism, Boeing deserves the contract on their merits alone.

Too bad. It's shocking.

I hear that Boeing will be protesting.

Default Sad, but not Surprised.

Decision makers in Washington DC read newspapers too... and there is a definite anti-military sentiment that is building in Washington State that some believe tipped the decision against us.

Look no further then last year's Olympia Port protests and the harassment of the troops coming home... I couldn't believe our young men and women would ever be subjected to having to dodge rocks and bottles on their own soil in 2007. Instead of honoring the troops for their service and sacrifice, they were met by loud and angry protesters that closed downtown for days.

I'm all for the Public's right to Protest... but taking it out on our men and women just isn't right.

Even last years withdrawn invitation for the Navy to participate in Olympia's Lakefair with the Canadian Navy did not go unnoticed.

I don't recall our elected officials speaking out in behalf of the Navy or those responsible for property damage held accountable.

The SF Bay Area that witnessed the gradual decline of the Military and all the jobs that went with it with the Base Closings back in the 80's... to the benefit of Washington State.

Actions have consequences and I can't help but believe that we are now reaping what we sowed...

And also, a lot of blame, IMO, goes to the state's political machine. Alabama's governor and senators were organized and worked very hard to secure the deal. Did Washinton's politicians do the same? I believe it was the same mentality that allowed the announcement from Boeing back in 2001 that they were leaving Seattle.

It's actually kinda difficult to make that argument. Mobile, Alabama is a big winner here, just like Everett is a loser. Alabama's congressional delegation will help ensure that the decision isn't overturned.

It's American to try and get the best deal. Ergo, that's why we buy underwear made from China at Mega Marts.

I wonder how much cheaper it is to put a factory, run a factory, pay the workers in a factory and ship from a factory in Mobile.

And yeah, throwing rocks at soldiers is just stupid, man. You think that soldier has any Freaking choice? Not after they signed a contract to support and serve their country, they don't. They give up a lot of rights and comforts to fight for America... and when they come back they get to have people fling s*** at them.

Stay classy, Seattle.
